Peter McCarty is an author, illustrator, and graphic novelist based in Upstate New York. His professional awards include the New York Times Best Illustrated Book for four different books, a Caldecott Honor award for Hondo and Fabian, and a Charlotte Zolotow award for Moon Plane.

McCarty has been teaching at the School of Visual Arts in New York City for more than 20 years. His original illustrations have been exhibited in galleries across the United States.
